Heard what was probably a radio edit of 'The Baying of the Hounds' on the radio last night, and was severely unimpressed. I hope it'll grow on me....

Ghost of Perdition sounds very good. A lot more like traditional Opeth but still different. I even hear a little Toolish part and also Porcupine Tree's influence is undeniable

Oh God how classic is the blatant Tool rip off in Perdition!?!?!?!? Fuck!!!!!!!!!!! I mean, I love Tool too but WOAH!!!

Great song though (I LOVE the acoustic shit from three minutes in, that fucking RULES!!!), but I can't get over how much of a Tool rip off that bit is.... yikes... I can hear the PT in there, but PT rip off Tool a fair bit too from what I have heard.

well, the whole thing has been leaked and it seems like not even Roadrunner can harm a band like Opeth Listening to The Baying Of The Hounds and it sounds great!

That's a great song. I love the vocals in harmony... Reminds me of Bleak, sort of... which is a very good thing! This tune is more typical of old school Opeth riffing too, which is enjoyable.

yeah man, totally. I heard some BM in there too. Listened to the whole thing now and I love it. It's so diverse, partly beautiful, deep but also heavy. Must get that one.

The whole album was "finished" before signing to Roadrunner AFAIK. It's all totally amazing and much better than Deliverance. The ending to Ghost of Perdition is fucking epic.
