Black Sabbath invented heavy metal, hence why they're classed as a heavy metal band not a "rock band".
Judas Priest are also a "metal" band of sorts, not a 'rock' band.

Jimmy Page played on half of all British number ones during the early to mid 60's, until he joined the Yardbirds. As did John Paul Jones. I think Led Zep's strongest point was their arrangement and their production. While they rock well and roll well, they have too much folk. I like their folk, but its not very R&R.

zeppelin isn't overrated because they did it 30 years ago, 90 percent of today's bands can't even do it now.

I voted van halen, but i didnt even see Deep Purple if I realised it was there I would have vote for them. Nothing can beat Deep Purple's Burn and Speed King, even their newer albums rule. Wish I could say the same for Aerosmith.
