Another sad death, my thoughts are with his family :( Never been a big fan of Slipknot, but I thought they had a great song here and there.

R.I.P.

Different strokes.

I'm well over 30 and have never used hard drugs. It's a choice, so I will judge all I want.

If it was drugs, fuck him for leaving a pregnant wife to get high. Maybe you should grow up and realize that a pregnant wife is a bit more of a priority than a syringe full of whatever.

I would have the same attitude if he was playing russian roulette. You tell me the difference.

Fucking grow up.
The death of any person isn't something to be judged by the method upon which it was brought.

Anyway, I was linked to a video of the Slipknot press conference with regards to Pauls death. Thought I'd share it here in case anyone would like to watch:

Very humbling.

Being prone to addictions sure is a shitty character trait, but completely writting the dude off due to that is sorta harsh. Lots of brilliant people are/were addicts after all.

Awesome, good on you.

If it was drugs, it was drugs. So what? Surely that's not a reason to condemn a persons creative work over the years. Syd Barrett, Alex Harvey and Pete Steele are among countless others were proven and well-known to be high as kites over the years and still produced some fucking amazing music in their time.
From personal experience I'm also well aware of the responsibilities, expectations and level of support required in order to realise what's important from a partner when supporting their pregnant girlfriend/wife/whatever, cheers. Not that I need to explain how or why to anyone on a public forum.
We don't know if his death was related to drugs, and frankly none of us cares but you. It's easy to make assumptions regarding the cause of someone's death while sitting behind a computer screen and not knowing any of the facts. None of us knew him, therefore we have no right to point the finger in any direction.

No, sorry. I've more important things to than be goaded into a petty argument. Let's agree to disagree, I'm out- This isn't the time or place.

Actually I have three children so know a little about the responsibilities involved.

Maybe you should grow up and learn that uninformed conjecture about the cause of someone's death is inappropriate, crass and meaningless.

On an internet messageboard?

Apparently the word "if" is censored on this board. Did I say that I am an authority on the vices of the members of Slipknot? if you don't like my OPINION, ignore it. It's every bit as meaningless as the know-it-all drivel everyone else spews out round here. The coroner's report that the media sourced said there was no evidence of foul play or natural causes. The remaining toxicology test is in progress. Making the leap to a POSSIBLE OVERDOSE OF A DEAD ROCK STAR, is not that far of a stretch. You know, since science ruled out the immediate most likely causes.
Maybe people should take the "kid gloves" off and call a fucking spade a spade. Junkies die. Accept it instead of making excuses for people's fragile emotional states. You choose to put poison in your body and choose to destroy the lives of your loved ones. Fucking grow a pair and don't try to fuck over a single mom/kid.

And seriously... did someone just argue that Kurt Cobain had anything positive to offer humanity. Whatever people think he accomplished musically (another opinion?!?!? ) can anyone honestly put a favorable spin on a suicidal junkie who left a toddler in the care of Courtney Love?

Don't forget that besides rock star and possible junkie, Paul Gray was also a person. He was someone's son, someone's friend, someone's lover, someone's neighbour, someone's father. Let's see you spew all this nonsense when someone close to you, someone you care about, dies of a possible overdose.

Just imagine it was your lover or your child who had died. How would you feel if people were saying things like you said? It's utterly disrespectful.

Just that he made some poor decisions in his life, doesn't immediately make him a bad person. If the drugs was poor decision at all, his status as a rock star put him in the position to reap all the benefits I'd say. But that's a whole different discussion.

It's about respect here. We treat those who've passed on with respect.

Yeah. Better go see how he looked without his mask and how his voice sounded, I didn't know till now. Some nice bass playing (and sound) too.

Didn't look that menacing did he.

Wow, that really looked like a comment of offended fan? I only wanted to detract from the drug discussion and share how the dude looked like since I found it on youtube now. I'm barely a fan.

What is the point of this drug stuff?
Drugs or not, he died. It's sad.

This. He was loved, drugs or not - he died, drugs or not - family and friends will mourn, and rightfully so.

The reason behind someone's death never makes it any easier to live with, natural or not. I'm sure I'm not the only one who knows this a little too well.
