Yes. Sadly it's been confirmed by TON's manager.
Very saddened.

Glad to see some love for Steele from my fellow Dev fans.

I lost a musical hero today. In my very humble opinion, Peter is up there with legends of metal: Devin, Mikael Akerfeldt, Steve Harris, James Hetfield, Tony Iommi et-al. He was such an original songwriter. The whole reason I started listening to Devin was because of October Rust. I loved that record so much that I wanted to find other "lush sounding" records... and that's how I stumbled on Ocean Machine.

I truly miss him.

Yeah me too, like seriously obsessed to the point where they were all that I listened to for like 4 years. Pretty much wore a Type O shirt to school every day to the point that people just started calling me "type o".

I can't say that I've actually stuck with a band for as long as I did with them. From getting the Bloody Kisses album at 13 I was totally hooked. Other bands I've grown in and out of, but they were just always there. I've always wanted a Type O tattoo, I think now's a good a time as any.

RIP Pete.

The band posted statements on the official website. Josh's is heartbreaking.

Type O and SYL were the two bands that helped me survive the High School bullshit.

The first song I heard from them was Everything Dies. I didn't know what the hell I was listening to but I loved it. Oh man.... More memories of the music. I use to get picked on the school bus often, just dicked around by a bunch of total pricks. I kept my CD player with me at all times and that was the album (World Coming Down) I would listen to the most to block out the harassment. A lot of my "to hell with the trends and corporate crap" stems from that album. I never dressed dark or was ever troubled, just incredibly backwards and shy-- made for an easy target. It's amazing and frightening what music can do to an individual.

If I had a beer in my hand I would raise it to no more bad news. Because this is just awful.

As I already posted in the "UN-awesome" thread, I'm a big fan of Type O.

RIP Pete. :(
