Ghost reveries is cool, I like dense harmonies, when bass isn't just playing unison stuff and all this keyboard stuff. Also is Damnation, Deliverance and Blackwater Park. And My Arms Your Hearse. Don't like earlier early albums and Still Life - IMO they kinda lack integrity, I like multipart-made songs, but only when there's kind of flow binding parts together. i.e. Morningrise sound to me like plenty of short songs incidentally glued together. I think mr Wilson finally showed them how to make flowing music.

Of course my opinion isn't more valid than yours, but I feel proud to add something to interwebs informational noise.

OK let's hype this bitch a bit :P

Heir Apparent, the song that this thread was about:

Album title: Watershed

Album cover:

(high-res)

Special edition cover:
Image
(high-res)

The images look a bit grainy but that's because they're screencaps of a lousy-scaling flash animation. The high-res versions are unscaled and therefor not grainy.

Release date: June 3rd (USA), June 2nd (Elsewhere)

Tracklist:
1. Coil (7:48)
2. Heir Apparent (10:44)
3. The Lotus Eater (9:26)
4. Burden (11:04)
5. Porcelain Heart (10:31)
6. Hessian Peel (9:57)
7. Hex Omega (10:12)

About the special edition: It has some bonus tracks:
Derelict Herds (Opeth original)
Bridge of Sighs (Robin Trower cover)
Den Ständiga Resan (Marie Fredriksson cover)
Would? (Alice in Chains cover)

And it has a DVD (probably with a 5.1 mix and a making-of video)

And: WTF is up with that cover? :? I hope it's just a slipcase with the original artwork inside because an envelope for a cover... that's just silly. Even though the face in the stamp is a compilation of the Opeth members. The date it was stamped is the release date, the value '09' would be the 9th studio release of Opeth and the number 6867 seems to be the number of days since Opeth was founded.

I was bored so I read through the entire 13-page thread on the Opeth forums

It's Mendes' hair apparently (heir apparent-ly?), he got a serious haircut!

if the rest is not crappy, that will be a bonus

i agree. although i reckon the cover of would will be shit. Opeth have a very stiff sound where as alice in chains is much more free. i dont see how mikes voice would fit the song either

Ah, crap! His hair was so awesome! He was probably the coolest member of Opeth onstage. Now he looks like a dork...

If that crappy video of Heir Apparent sets your hopes high, The Lotus Eater will make everything clear that this is going to be a great album!

Yeah I've heard those, and although they sound promising (and crap or is that only my rip?) it still has that horrible Ghost Reveries guitar sound :(
