Patton's great.

And that's all I have to say.

:D

I think its his range of singing that impresses me most. From a lounge/jazz singer to some screaming psycho all in the space of one song.

I don't get the same emotional kick from his voice as I do Dev's but he is awesome none the less.

Yeh agreed. His songwriting isnt as good as say Devin but purely as a vocalist I definitely think he's one of the best there is.

Goodbye Sober Day anyone? CHUK CHUK CHUKA CHUKA CHUKA CHUKA

He can do stuff that Dev can't do. Dev can do stuff that he can't do. They are both awesome. If anyone has an edge in this comparison, it's Patton, because he is typically more accurate in live situations.

Patton simply has a golden voice, as well as the ability to morph himself into just about any type of singer. Just listen to "Carry Stress in the Jaw" by Mr. Bungle, and you will see...

[stating the obvious] Patton may suck on guitar while singing though. [/stating the obvious]

Very true, and something to take into account...

This is like Godzilla VS. Gamera, it'll never be solved.

Haha, yes I love the old man voice and the "wa wa waaaaaaaa!"

I'd love to hear him and Dev do a collaboration. Though I don't know if they'd be a good fit for each other.

I doubt it. I don't think Devin's voice would complement Patton's avant-guardyness or Patton's voice would complement Devin's emotional intensity.

I guess they could do an electronic album togheter, lol. You never know, though. I'm sure most people thought Patton and DEP would be an awful fit. At least I did.

I didn't know what to expect when I first got it, but I was very pleasantly surprised when what I got turned out to be very good.

I've heard the Peeping Tom album, and while it isn't what I really wanted, it was exactly what he said it would be, and there isn't anything wrong with that. It really isn't bad at all either, just nothing super special. Its another one though that I didn't know how he'd collaborate with some of those people, and while some turned out poorly, some turned out very good, right now I'm really digging that Norah Jones one.

I'm with you on Peeping Tom however if you were going to do a collab with Norah Jones I'm sure you can come up with more than 3 short parts repeated once? I'm a little disappointed with that track to be honest but I really like Caipirinha (Feat. Bebel Gilberto).

I didn't like Peeping Tom a WHOLE lot either. I like about half of it, and the other half just doesn't do anything for me. I actually thought the Norah Jones track was pretty good... She's got the sexy vocals goin'. AND she says motherfucker. I mean, seriously, Norah Jones saying motherfucker? That alone makes the track worth hearing! But having said that, Sucker is way way WAY too short. I guess that goes hand-in-hand with your complaint, mo.

Hah, interesting thread, since I've just recently been getting into Patton's stuff. Been a Bungle fan or a few months now, and he does some awesome stuff there. I just got "Angel Dust" today, and am actually in the process of listening to it for the first time. It's good.

In a couple of years you'll be able to acknowledge that it's one of the best "rock" albums of the 90ies!
