As for the open letter...It was staggeringly truthful and honest, but opinionated. There's not much Tarja COULD have denied, it was a lot of opinion based beleifs that she admits she didn't agree with but she just has to move on. She was going to leave after one more album anyways so this just cut it one album earlier. Personally, I don't think all the personal things had to be said on the open letter, but I like knowing anyways.
I agree that Tarja is the better opera singer, but Floor is nowhere near a bad opera singer. Tarja, though, pretty much stopped singing in that real operatic tone on Wishmaster. So, Floor could definitely handle anything on Wishmaster and after with ease, and I also think she could do the Angels Fall First and Oceanborn material justice. There are many After Forever songs were she does sing in that overly operatic style, but generally After Forever's music doesn't call for it.
I love female-fronted bands and I cannot think of another singer that would fit. Personally, I think Tarja's opera vocals are better, but overall Floor is the better singer. She's much more powerful.
And I can't imagine Simone from Epica joining. She is a great vocalist, but definitely not capable of doing the Nightwish material. Has anyone ever heard Operatika? They have a nice little EP out and the singer could probably do well in Nightwish. They even have a song, "Dreamworld," that has a main riff that sounds identical to the main riff in Nightwish's "She Is My Sin."
