Can't wait for the new album. The new song didn't blow me a way, but I don't care, I know the CD will be fantastic, thats just what Opeth does, release fantastic CD's.

has anyone else noticed how opeth release CDs in groups of 2?

their standard melodeath(orchid + morningrise)
concept folkloric death albums(still life + MAYH)
more prog metal(deliverance + blackwater park)

which means taht if you exclude damnation since it was a 1 time thing, they should be doing smth totally new!!!

Damnation was ok.............. I was a bit dissapointed because they had done such awesome quiet music before (things like Benighted and Patterns in the Ivy) which were just so gentle, but then they did the quiet album and it was all blargh-blargh-strum-strum very typical songey songs.... I wanted to hear a whole album of delicate stuff.... Oh well... It was still alright, and To Rid the Disease, Windowpane and Weakness make up for it.

This sounds very promising!!!
One of the best Opeth tracks I've ever head...so far.
The "syntkille" sure does a great job enhancing the sinister vibe present.

OK, I tried it again and listened to it 3 times in a row and I got it now. It's not too easy to ignore the horrible sound quality but I like it now. But I had to listen to it with headphones to get it all. Looking forward to listen to that song (and the other songs) in proper quality.

from the Roadrunner site:

OPETH COMETH - 7.15.2005

Brace yourselves, new Opeth music will be online starting this coming Tuesday (7/19). 10+ minutes of music in the form of the track "The Grand Conjuration."

If it's an audio stream then I hope the quality will be good. And if it's an mp3 then it will take ages to download, it always takes ages for me to download stuff off the RR site.
