The artwork is just awesome. Takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it, but it's really cool, you're really 'in' the picture.

I'm not getting it yet, it just seems to magnify it for me...

Does it require both eyes working for it to work? My eyes are not perfectly aligned, so that might be my problem

I think everyone should be capable of seeing it, it just might take a bit of effort to see it. My brother gave it two not very serious tries but he failed, but my mom saw it very quickly.

You know those moments that you're just staring at something, unaware of what it is and what's happening around you, just drifting away on your thoughts (and when you land back on earth you find out you've been staring at someones boobs or something ) ? That's the look you want, totally unfocussed.
Put the spectacles close to your eyes, try to get that look (not easy when you can't see beyond the pictures). The pictures start to get blurry, and slowly start melting together. Then suddenly, they come together as one 3D picture, that seems to be a lot bigger than it actually is. It's amazing, you almost feel like you're part of the artwork.

Oh well...cant get it working yet..

I think there's something wrong with people who don't like it. It's challenging, for sure. I think it kicks much ass. I've been a fan of Tool for years and I think they are so interesting the way they continue to progress and experiment within the confines of what is essentially mainstream metal/rock. Some of the songs like "Intension" and "Rosetta Stoned" ask you to open your mind a little. "Jambi" and "Vicarious" just rock. I'm puzzled, in a way, by the people that don't like it. It's so much a Tool album. I don't know what people expected. It's almost like people build it up to be this amazing, mind-altering sort of mystical thing that will change their lives and give them a spontaneous orgasm at the same time. And that's so unrealistic because only a Devin Townsend album can do that. Sheesh.

i liked it at first now i love it. its my second favourite behind lateralus still. definantely a grower

very well put! And I agree, Rosetta Stoned was the one song for me that was most difficult to get into.

I got a feeling this is going to be an album that's going to have to grow on me a bit. I found it a bit tedious at first, but I'm sure I'll grow to love it after a few more listens

Picked it up today, and am about half way through my 2nd listen. I'm liking it a lot, espaecially 'Vicarious, 'Jambi' and 'The Pot'. The rest I'm being nice and patient with, as these guys don't make the type of albums that you're meant to take in in one sitting (As several of you have already pointed out).

I wouldn't say I'm a major fan (I have Aenima and a beaten-up tape copy of Lateralus that I really should dig out again), but they've always struck me as a 'mood' band - they suit a particular frame of mind, and when you're in that kind of mood you dig out one of their albums and let it take you on a journey.

And fuck me, the packaging kicks arse, even if my eyes occasionally won't work with the lenses. The problem with relaxing parts of your body (Like you have to do with your eyeballs) is that the second you tell yourself to relax them it just makes them more tense! I'm sure there's a smutty joke in there somewhere that thankfully won't come to mind right now...

Yeah... but for me its like Tool are the masters of balancing out instant appeal and then a few sections that reveal their coolness to you after a few listens.
