I've been wondering how much do bad english irritate people if english is your native language. Can you tell the difference in music? If a foreigner would try to sing in finnish I would propably die laughing :D

Could someone count writing errors/mistakes? I'm sure there's more than five :D

Bad English never annoys me really. I'm with fragility here...I am in no position to complain about others language abilities considering the state of my own.

Most people here (99% even) have very good english. Infact it is certainly the case that there are more people with bad english who speak it as a first language than those who speak it as a second.

If that makes sense.

Damn, typing sucks. Cant we just use phones?

Would a good song with bad/childish lyrics annoy you?

I might find it funny, but it would only annoy me if it was actually a bad song, regardless of the language.

makes total sense, as people who are intelligent and/or educated enough to learn a foreign language usually have a feel for grammar and are also good in speaking their own tongue. (i'm so damn clever and educated, yeah! :P )

I can  :night:

Well more seriously, yup', many non-english board members speak english pretty well.
I mean I don't think I'm too bad at english, but anyway I'm still far from using it percfectly (particularly everything more familiar, specific, and expressions...) and I don't really see how I could achieve this step without spending some time in an english country.
Ok I chose english as second language (took german as first... nothing against german, but all I learned during 7 school years pretty much vanished now... except maybe "Hallo, Stephen, willst du fussball spielen ?" :P "Das telephon klingelt" and a few more...), but even if I had taken english as my 1st language in school, I don't think I could be really that much better at it than I am now. Also I remember the german were way better at french than we (frenchies) were at german... So maybe the french system sucks...

Concerning music, I don't really know bands with a bad english, except the Mad Capsule Markets maybe, but I hardly understand whatever they say^^

What bothers me is when someone uses SMS language (well whatever it's called in english, turning you to u etc etc...), it's way harder to understand.

Have anybody heard new Norther? "Till Death Unites Us" is the name of their new album. I think that "till" is swedish but I'm not sure cause I can't speak is at all. Anyway there's one song where "last time" is said about 7 times in one chorus. Something like that can easily ruin any song.

One of my best friends is a girl from Poland who moved here in the summer of 2001. I've known her since early 2002, and from the moment I met her I've told her that her English is better than mine.

In America, the English is very poor, for one reason there is all of the other cultures and languages in here, with the integration of them we get a change in our form of the English language, and also we just don't seem to care about our language as much.

My problems are more in that I think very fast and try to get my mouth to move just as fast, and it never works. It comes out like a bunch of jibberish when I'm either excited or drunk.

Some people say that english is a dying language, just word after word.
