The age old argument has arisen again. Me and my flatmate have just had it.

What do you reckon? Beatles or the Stones? Who was the best or the most influential?

I'd say The Beatles but only from 1967 onwards and they were still creating a lot of shit even then. They win purely on variety.

i only listen to different variants of metal, drum n bass, some electronica and bizarre latino music a la Perez Prado, not 60s rock so.

just to add my tuppence worth to the argument though, i've always believed the Rolling Stones to be greatly overrated but that's just my opinion.

I'd go for the Beatles as they influenced Black Sabbath, or at least Ozzy, who influenced a hell of a lot of bands that came afterward.

Plus i think Mick Jagger is a twat :D

do you remember the song that was released under The Beatles name sometime during the 90s... called something like 'Free As A Bird' or something.

I don't know what it was about that record but it just scared me with some sort of eery vibe that i can't describe

The Beatles are probably my all time favourite band if I had to pick just one !

Although I like Paint it Black more than any Beatles song, The Beatles were far more influential and have a better overall catalog of work. While my guitar gently weeps is my fav!

Geoff, my friend, you need to sit down with me and listen to a few Beatles records. There are some great musical lessons to be learnt here ! The Stones were coolthough, I agree with Sinkharmony though.....The Beatles were way more influential on music today !

Um, this is the stupidest question I've ever heard of... So stupid, I even described it as the stupidest. That's right. The Rolling Stones were no competition at all....

I'd like to add the argument that the Beatles actually created the "album" as we know it with 'Sgt. Peppers...'

Beatles seem to be winning. Go scouse rock!

I like Lennon and Harrison stuff. Beatles are the most fucking brilliant song makers ever. I would have hard time not being violent in the same room with that annoying geezer Mick Jagger.
