My first post! :D

I found on Gamespot that the original "Elder Scrolls: Arena" is downloadable (for FREE!) However, in order to do so, you also need to download an emulator (DOSBox). I was just wondering if anyone knows whether this will cause any problems for my computer.

Thanks!

Hard to say since different configurations yield different results. I've used it before for an older game but needed to tweak a bit. I don't know if the emulator has been updated since I used it so I can't really give details. Something I also needed was a separate program for the sound.
The processor speed also had to be "hidden" since certain parts of the game depended on the speed. But with much faster processors now, everything went too fast. So the emulator sent wrong data about the processor to counteract this. This could be game specific though and it could be tweaked with one of those emulators if needed.

never really had problems with dosbox. There are front ends for it (which you probably can find links for on the project's page or ask fajha google), so i'd recommend you download one, it's easier for those not used to tweaking shit for it to work :D

It's safe. Just install and have fun (ctrl+F11/F12 controls speed of emulation if you have problems with it - default is "auto", but sometimes it doesn't work well).

Of course you know that Arena is 386/VGA era game and looks shit by todays standards? :)

Thanks for the help guys!

Yeah, I know how old the game is too. It was a favorite of mine, back when I was very young.

Bye!
