Talk about whatever you want to here, but stay correct

Coil are one of my favourite bands ever. I was shocked when johnn died just before the release of "ape of napels". I have a coil cd of 666 copies which is a remix cd johnn comissioned buttons the chimp to make before he died. Its coil vs venetian snares and for one reason or another the two bands mix together well. Venetian snares arent industrial but trust me you need to hear his work.

When you think what coil put those early records together with its pretty amazing.

I just bought Horse Rotorvator for $65. Yes, I liked it that much.

Godflesh... Do they sound anything like Jesu? I know it's the same guy behind that project and Jesu is wicked.

EDIT: Venetian snares will have to be the next thing i check out then. And why is Coil not very well known? I've talked to people that listen to tons of industrial who haven't heard of them!

EDIT again: I listen to a lot of music... But I have to say here that Horse Rotorvator is my favorite album of all time. As of now.

Thats a great cd, also for those who dont know devy plays guitar on early frontline assembly and jed does on the "implode" album.

Fullgore: Jesu is like godflesh but where as godflesh had balls jesu seems more aout expressing the vulnerable side of justins music. But still parts of the debut album must be left over from godflesh sessions. I recommend tracking down the heartache ep.

The coil thing isnt that wierd, i mean they are much more of an experimental band and as a result of such they don't get much exposure in clubs. They never made music for any scene they simply just created whatever they felt like that day. Your average braindead industrial rivithead isnt looking for something you can get creeped out to at home they are simply after something that they can be seen and heard enjoying. Wow i make them sound shallow and fickle.

Anybody a fan of coldmeatindustry bands?

Hell yes, but I would mostly call them darkwave/dark ambient or even noise, not industrial at all -- or well, at least the bands from CMI that I listen to:

Sephiroth
Raison D'être
Arcana
Brighter Death Now
Deutsch Nepal
Shinjuku Thief
In Slaughter Natives

How is Nurse With Wound? I've heard that name pop up a few times and they sound like something I might like.

I know neither do i, i was asking in the same way this thread now included coil who are by no means industrial. same as i view coldmeat as a label it covers everything from modern noise to experimental to medievil.

Oy, what does industrial exactly entail? Coil was one of the first recommendations in the thread, haha!

On a sidenote, my Ephel Duath album (Painter's Palette) just came in the mail!

Industrial began as anything part of the new wave of experimental in the late 70's in the north of england. Throbbing gristle coined the term by calling their label "industrial records" later on Einsturzende Neubauten took it one step forward and began making records using amongst many homemade instruments industrial power tools. Cabaret voltaire were original pioneers too but they are named after a TG song so they came later.

Now if we really want to get silly we can enter the great EBM discussion. Arrrrhhhh,..,.,

THIS LINK] explains it better than i have been doing. Its worth noticing that experimental is right up there at the start. Which is in my opinion correct tr00 caveman industrial is experimental that got called something else.
