Not really expecting much from them given their last few releases, but I did have (albeit small) hopes that they still had some spine. I know they won't go old school. And I wouldn't expect them to.

Oh well... I'm sure that my opinion is an unpopular one and that's okay. As long as they are enjoying it and their music is reaching people and somehow touching live's that's all that really matters. After all, that's the whole point right?

I think we were all expecting something a little more old school since this record DOES carry the Mindcrime tag. I love the original Mindcrime and to me it is an almost perfect record for mood and smooth song transition, also strong songwriting.

I DID want a little more metal to be included due to the MINDCRIME name but as long as the record retains the feel and mood of the original i'll be at least intriqued as to how it'll sound.

This album is heavy, though. It really is. And Mindcrime is an album, but more importantly it's a story. The most important thing about this new record is the story, do the lyrics hold up. Musically we knew it wasn't going to be the same, but the story can't be bad.

I have no opinion on the lyrics, though. I'll wait until I can read them.

I've listened to it a little. It's not bad. I've only really listened to the first four songs or so. It didn't grab me, but it has a bit of that old Q'Ryche feel. I'll try to listen to it a little more and see what I think.
